A bottle that had sunk to the bottom of the river
Jennifer found the bottle three meters deep in the Cheboygan River she had dived into to clean the transparent walls of her boat. The bottle contained a slightly damaged sheet but the young woman managed to decipher the message by drying the piece of paper. This is how she was able to read, “Could the person who finds this bottle send it back to George Morrow Cheboygan, Michigan and say where they found it?” CNN reports.

A Facebook post that changed everything

A word from 1926
Jennifer Dowker is an American entrepreneur who organizes tourist expeditions. One of her favorite activities is scuba diving, and during one of her trips to the sea, she hauled up an old bottle. Inside was a note from a certain George Morrow written in 1926 at the age of 17 or 18. While the man died in 1995, his daughter Michele Primeau immediately recognized her father’s handwriting.

Following her discovery, Jennifer decides to post her discovery on Facebook in order to track down the author of this post. She then published photos of the bottle and the word on June 19. To his surprise, the post had been shared over 100,000 times the next day.

Young woman contacts Jennifer after recognizing her father’s handwriting

If we criticize social networks a lot, they are nevertheless very effective at connecting people to each other. The proof again here, since only ninety-five minutes after the publication of the post, a young woman contacted Jennifer about the mysterious message in the bottle. “He’s been away a long time, but it’s pretty cool because it all happened on Father’s Day weekend,” George Morrow’s daughter told CNN. The message had been written a good twenty years before her birth, but the young woman is sure of herself. George Morrow’s daughter left the message to Jennifer who will have it framed. She would like to display it in her boat or in her store.
